Canada Wii Deals
For EB Games/GameStop Employees ONLY!?
I have a question about trading in consoles. If I’m trading a Wii to EB Games/ Gamestop, what will they do to check that the console is sellable. Will they play it on a TV to see if it works? Will they examine any damages? If so, how? Will they open up the Wii, to check for mods? What would employees do to check if they will buy the console.
*NOTE: When I traded my Nintendo DS Lite, all the employee did was check for damages/scratches and turned it on then off. Then I got $50. But the Wii is more valuable so they might do more checking.
I am selling my Wii because EB Games Canada has the “Most Wanted” Deal, where they will buy some Wii games and Wii for more expensive then usual. THANKS 10 POINTS!
I have to first say that EB/Gamestop doesn’t ALWAYS check systems. If they’re really busy or if their TV/console tester has recently broken they won’t do it. Or, you may just get a lazy employee.
Having that said. If they do test it they will generally test it either on a TV or a universal console tester that they have. They’ll look for outside damage first. Then they’ll hook it up and turn it on. If it turns on, they’ll test a disc in it. In the case of the Wii, they’ll only test 1 Wii disc (unless the first disc doesn’t work). They don’t check for mods, so you don’t have to worry about them opening the system up. Opening systems voids the warranty, so they won’t do it. If there is a broken seal or something that indicates the system was opened, they’re not supposed to accept it, but I don’t recall seeing anything like that for Wiis when I worked there.
