Lets take a quick look back at video game history.
Atari 2600 vs Intellivison and ColecoVision.
Intellivison and ColecoVision had far more processing power then the Atari 2600 yet the 2600 won that console war.
NES vs Sega Master system.
The master system had more processing power and the NES killed it.
SNES vs Sega Genesis, Neo-Geo, 3DO and Jaguar.
Sega Genesis, Neo-Geo, 3DO and Jaguar all had more processing power then the SNES and the SNES won that war.
PS1 vs N64.
The N64 had almost two times the processing power of the PS1 and Sony sold two times more PS1 then Nintendo did N64.
PS2 vs Gamecube and Xbox.
There is no doubt that the xbox was more powerful then the PS2 and the PS2 outsold the xbox 3 to 1.
It’s not about how strong a console is, it never has been. It’s about games and which system has the most games that appeal to the widest audience. The games you list are great games but only hardcore gamers want to play them.
Out of all people that play video games in the world how many are “hardcore”? Maybe 25%! So while Sony and Microsoft fight it out over those 25% of people Nintendo is going after the other 75% with games for everyone and laughing all the way to the bank.
Yes the sales will fall off but not because of anything sony or microsoft do. When the sales start to drop off Nintendo will start putting Wii sports Resort Wii a Wii motion plus in with each Wii and still sell it for $249.99. That will bring sales back up and finsh of the other two for this round of consoles.
