PS2 vs Wii?

This has been seriously bothering me. My friend believes that the PS2 is more powerful than a next-generation system, the Wii. He said he looked at the "specs" and I'm no tech geek so I have no idea. Is there a FINAL / statistics reliable or technical specifications to show whether one or the other is more powerful? Also, I heard things like: well the wii is more powerful than a gamecube and GameCube was more powerful than the PS2, so, technically, the Wii is more powerful than a ps2. Is this true?

The Wii is newer than the PS2 and left at the same time as the PS3. Some differences between the PS2 and Nintendo Wii is the first video game console for controllers designed as a remote control. It is a wireless game only allows players to move with the drivers and play at the same time. It was supposed to make the game more fun than sitting on the couch and pressing buttons, that is what it is PS2. Wii is more powerful than the PS2.
