Xbox Live is the online connectivity service from Microsoft for the Xbox 360. Service originally debuted on the original Xbox console in 2002 and was upgraded to a large extent on the release of 360 in 2005. Unlike Sony's PlayStation Network and Nintendo service Wii Online, a subscription to Xbox Live can cost a nominal fee to use.

Xbox Live available with two different account levels: Gold and Silver. The Silver account is free, and offers connectivity at baseline. Silver account includes free game demos, movies in high definition television programming, download arcade games, game accessories and expansion packs, avatars, and voice and text chat.
Upgrade to Xbox Live Gold, which costs a subscription fee, will unlock the full Xbox Live experience you'll have to play multiplayer games online. In addition, have access to Netflix streaming (as long as you have a Netflix subscription), Xbox Live chat and photo sharing, Facebook, Twitter, Last.FM and applications, and access Exclusive early demos. The ability to play multiplayer games and access Netflix streaming are the main reasons to join Xbox Live Gold.

Connect to Xbox Live
Connect to Xbox Live is a relatively simple process that only takes a few minutes to complete. First, you need a connection to broadband Internet. You can connect your Xbox 360 to a router or directly to a broadband modem. Alternatively, you can buy a separate wireless adapter for the Xbox 360 that lets you connect to Xbox Live wirelessly.
You will then have to configure your network settings. After turning the Xbox console, go to my Xbox and then the system configuration. Select Network Settings and then configure the network. If you are using a wireless adapter, choose the wireless mode, followed by exploration of networking. Xbox 360 will automatically search all networks available in your area. Enter the network password and select Done. Then press B and select Text Xbox Live Connection.
Use Xbox Live Multiplayer Games Online Game
Xbox 360 games to play online via Xbox Live is easy. You do not have to log Xbox Live every time I play, or have to configure any additional settings for each game. Simply insert the game you'd like to play in the console mode and enter the online multiplayer mode. The console will automatically connect to Xbox Live and make the necessary connections to other players in the game. Each game will its own interface to play with other players online.
