How do you pronounce names in okami? (ps2/wii)?
Amaterasu, Issun, Ammy, etc.
It’s cool how they ported the game over and didn’t change the names to something more… American, but then the problem is that almost no one can pronounce the names correctly.
I dont suppose this game has a pronunciation guide?
No, sadly, there’s no official pronunciation guide, as far as I know.
Amaterasu is usually pronounced Ama-teh-ra-sue. The way it’s spelled, I would guess Ammy is pronounced Am(as in amulet)-me. I’ve always pronounced Issun as Iss (as in bliss)-an. That’s the best I can do for you!
It wouldn’t make much difference if you changed the names. It would just look wierd since the whole game is based on Japanese culture, so you’d have to change the whole game to make it more American. Ready at Dawn highly respected the original developers, Clover Studios, very much and they didn’t want to fiddle with the game too much in fear of upsetting the devoted Okami fans.
