Un55B7000 Samsung – Television Beautiful, Big Picture, Poor Sound, Menus And Limitations
Pros :
1. Dimension incredible value. This TV is incredibly thin. You must see to believe. Just over an inch thick (not to mention 55 “from corner to corner), this TV boasts some of the best available statistics, compared to all other brands / models out there.
2. LED backlight. This feature is what initially attracted my attention. When I first saw that I noticed immediately how incredibly deep the blacks were. This pressure for deep color of the plate seems to permeate the entire spectrum of colors, allowing for deeper, more remarkable fullness when you view all the contents of forms.
3. Basic statistics. The contrast ratio (although I read various and conflicting reports, including information specific to the factory, which makes it difficult to make an exact value amount), 120Hz, 1080p, response time of 4 milliseconds, x2 USB connections , LAN, etc.. .. They are all there. This TV has the ability to pass without tying up your computer or local network your home theater into a true and “Media Center” on condition that you have common sense.
4. “XBRITE” as the display. I call this the lack of a better solution. The LCD screen itself this is not matted like many of his predecessors, is polished like a Plasma TV or some of its smaller cousins, the LCD monitor for your PC, which will allow more light, the clarity of the wider color. This could be considered a “nuisance” by some because it allows for more obvious reflections of light, casting the audience in the eye again, but the intensity of light emitted by cutting this TV brings the request to the rest.
Cons:
1. Menu. After spending several hours to remove my previous television, measuring and cutting holes in walls, fuddling with cables, and intake of dust bunnies and dust from the drywall, I found my car in the middle of my disappointment with this TV. Navigating the menu system. Do not get me wrong, it is not difficult, but it’s all complicated. To begin a task as simple as changing the source is made a lot of time and draws attention because you must hit a minimum of 3 buttons on the remote to move closer to your input. This may sound like someone complaining that you have to turn the tap to fill a glass of water, but only play him for a while ‘and see what I’m talking about.
The menus themselves are all animated and take a moment to load, which adds to the frustration when trying to navigate through them, and when it comes to the entry you want to have to manually exit the menu by pressing “Enter” or “return” on the remote. This problem could have been easily alleviated with shortcut keys for individual inputs on the remote, like most other manufacturers offer.
2. Sound. The sound quality is significantly worse by the fact that the speakers on this model to address the opposite direction of the screen. Reverb on a wall is not an adequate substitute for direct heat. The sound quality is not bad in itself, such as being square, metal or deteriorated, and the volume is just not as full as others I have heard (but should expect to be the form factor that it is). You will need a surround sound system with this TV, but you probably already have one, if you are seriously looking at this model.
3. The limitation of contributions. For some crazy reason, Samsung has decided in advance which inputs (HDMI) can be used for such devices and the restrictions placed on those inputs as they pleased. This is totally lame and disappointing. Scrolling through the menu selections on a number of HDMI inputs you’ll notice that most good and your photos are not adjustable for changes based on what input you have selected.
Despite changing the labels of the inputs and reorganization HDMI inputs, are not able to get the full range of image adjustments that you paid a lot of money for ‘. This, to me, is the biggest disappointment of the television. There’s nothing worse than seeing a slew of options that are supposed to be available, but are “grayed out” for some unknown reason. I expect at this price and capacity, to be able to fully customize each input that has televesion, no matter what I connect peripherals to it.
This could not prevent the purchase of this TV, but you should at least be aware of. I have a lot of different devices connected at any time, ie. Blue Ray, DVD, VHS, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, Xbox, N64, PSX, SNES, NES, PC, camcorder, camera, and some flash-based devices, as some of the latest models of iPod / iPhone, and ‘really bothers me that I can not change the settings to what ever is best suited to my needs.
4. Dynamic Contrast. This feature seems to be a blessing and a bit ‘of a curse. On one hand it gets dark, rich colors, and secondly you get much darker than white when most of the screen is dark in tone. You just need to scroll through the menu system of the TV on a static, dark background to see this flaw in action. How does dynamic contrast is that it lowers the backlight of the television, when the senses, most of what you see is dark, making any contrast in tone, ie whites to blacks, much darker than it would normally.
This may not be a failure for some, but depending on what you watch, there’s a noticeable difference. Personally, I like watching a lot of space / NASA documentaries, and when displaying images in the Hubble deep space, which are mostly blacks, with little pin points of light, you notice that you are losing quality / brightness image (compared to other flat panel displays without this dynamic contrast Perk).
5. Lack of input. This destruction is the price you pay for a small form factor I think. 4 HDMI is ok, not all individually limited, but there is only one component, composite / S-video and stereo at all is a 3.5mm jack so you need an adapter, which is not included. The TV have optical audio out, so if you have a little ‘can / latest surround sound system you will be ok, provided you spend the money and buy the expensive cables to connect it (heaven forbid that the receiver is more than meter away or you’re going to hear it in your wallet).
Another problem that all these digital connections lead, which is rarely publicized is that there is a lot more tuning involved to make them work normally. Saying “good” to connect things alone and with their work. If you do not have a lot of patients to read manuals or trial and error, you may need to pay the additional cost for some “geek” come to your house and make everything work properly for you.
Another slight annoyance is that this TV does not offer any type of video output. An incident a lot, but I would keep options open.
6. 120 Hz more like “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” Some people, such as its effects on the movies / games, I personally turn it off to make television look normal to me. You really need to evaluate the functionality for your car and take a decision. For me, it seems that increases the frame rate at times and slows it down in others, which gives the overall visual quality, a Hůrky “click” feel. Others who have seen the feature on my TV saying that for over a 3D quality or that it is more like looking through a window, as marked for viewing on a TV.

7. “Media Center” shortcomings. What, no YouTube? Even my phone is this. I would also like to see WMC connectivity, a flash enabled web browser, and come to think of it, bluetooth, so you can connect a keyboard qwarty effectively benefit from it. This would really bump this TV in a eschelon higher equaled by any other device to date.
Summary
All in all, I think this TV is feature rich with some leave low that could be corrected with a little ‘naivete (hopefully you can make in terms of firmware upgrades, making good use of the LAN function.) I would not personally recommend this TV to any friends because I can not hear them complain, but I would tell them to come play with him and decide for yourself if one is right for them.
Knowing what I know now would be difficult to say whether I would update again from what I had before (50px4dr LG) this TV, but I can honestly say that the picture quality on most devices (cables, Xbox 360 and others (NOT PLAYSTATION 3, I get a strange effect snowy screen pixel at home that makes me mad, and was the reason I bought a new TV in the first place)) is far superior to most other TVs I’ve seen .
