The Biggest Loser for DS has 7 unique exercise routines including 3 circuit workouts, a cardio workout, and routines that focus on your upper body, core, and lower body. Each of the different workouts begin with the same 6 warm-up exercises and the same 6 cool down exercises.

With those and some shared exercises between the different routines things can seem kind of repetitive. Another issue is that the game pauses between exercises so players can read about the next exercise and select how fast they want repetitions to go, and while this might be necessary, it also results in slow pacing.
One thing the game does get right though is that the selection includes most of the simple exercise essentials that are easiest to do at home. However, some of them require hand weights and a stability ball to do as shown in the game, so players will have to modify or skip certain moves if they don’t have all of the equipment.
Personally, I wouldn’t recommend The Biggest Loser on DS to beginners. It’s simply not the right platform for learning how to do new exercises correctly. In a workout class or with a Wii game or DVD you’re able to watch the trainer demonstrate the entire exercise, as well as give verbal feedback as you do the exercise.
The DS requires you to read about how to properly execute a move and then see either a brief, repeating graphic demonstration or a still photo of the exercise, so it’s easy to become confused about how to position yourself correctly, especially since it’s more-or-less impossible to look at the DS as you do the exercise.

For people with more experience with the specific exercises in the routines, the DS version is a good guide for a workout, more listing off the order of a well-designed routine that consists of exercises the player is familiar with.
