Wii Cable Extension
It is the tip of my power cord?
I have a mess of wires in my room last night I accidentally stepped on one of the two cable ends Feed my Wii. It was not difficult to solve, and gently tilted back to its original position as I always do. But this time I heard something sounded like a faint crack / crackling sound, and I can not say if the tip or the plastic in between the two points. It connects to an extension cord for the test (That way I could separate any fire quickly spread sudden, as I have tile in my house, and the fire is contained), and the Wii came out perfectly well. But is it safe to play? I have hundreds of times eared and had never heard that before. Is it possible for it to finish inside the piece of plastic cord? Apart from a slight curve, I see no external damage.
The crackling is disconcerting, but if there is no burn marks on the teeth, and the device works well, then I would not worry about that. Noise can be a momentary arc due to the curve until the item is placed in physical contact. If the noise continues, I worry. If you are removing an old light switch, just a normal, like the wall switch anywhere, you notice burn marks on the contacts, and even some metal pitting use over the years. Every time you turn the lights on, the reality for a moment electicity arcs between the contacts until the connection physics is done. That's why they are insulated to prevent you from getting zapped, but not break the fires. Yes, it is safe to play.
