Un55B7000 Samsung – Amazing Tv, Which Will Not Disappoint!
I have had this TV for about 2 weeks and could not be happier! My A / V installation was in force when it arrived and all I had to do was connect the HDMI to begin watching television. I am running HD cable (HDMI), Wii (Component), Blu Ray (HDMI), and a camera (HDMI) for all Denon AVR-1910. Only the HDMI out of the Denon to the TV is necessary because all the switches and upconverts video.
So after I put in, began to appear the cable channels … except for 2 HD channels – just got a black screen. I spent 45 minutes adjusting the resolution ins / outs on the cable receiver, and TV without any result. Finally, I rebooted the cable box, and there were. Yes, I would have tried before. However, everything has been running without problem.
I must say, this image is flat out gorgeous. I spent a lot of time looking for the TV and check out the shops, LG, Sony, Sharp, Toshiba, LCD, LED, etc. .. but I always come back to this line of Samsung LED series. I read reviews talking about “lights” in the corners, and conversely, dark spots in the corners. The first problem I’ve never really seen in person. Spots, however, I noticed in the shops. Seemed more prevalent on the series 8000, and in some cases I have not seen at all.
When he came down to it, however, I found the overall picture so surprising that the dark areas do not affect me (it was really thin). I was also suspicious that the tax in stores that are constantly lit may have something to do with it. I am pleased to say that I do not see any artifacts on my new set. The image brightness is very uniform. It could not be happier! If you’ve seen this TV in person know the thinness of the set is unparalleled. Mine is on a support, but on the wall would look incredible (speakers are not too bad so subtle).
As for the picture goes, if you are pushing an HD signal to it … WOW! The image is so vivid, bright and detailed scenes really start to look 3-dimensional. Not sure what effects are indeed seen, but this is what it seems. We had more friends and the boys were watching Kung Fu Panda in HD. All the boys were standing behind the guys mumbling about the incredible image. Standard def pictures are okay, certainly better than my old DLP. But make no mistake, the gain is in HD content.
So I find myself changing the image every day …. 2 notches lower on color, 1 over the range, plus 1 for the backlight, etc. .. is more or less to the point where all the channels look fabulous and I need to adjust anything else. I would say, expect to do it on any TV you get. I tried a configuration that cnet recommend for viewing a dark room and I hated it! Immediately switched back to my personal settings. The nice thing is that accurate color, and various configurable settings on this TV provide the flexibility which makes it almost impossible to get a perfect shot! But room for all TV, same eyes, and preferences are a bit ‘different.
Because there are so many combinations of setting, find the perfect configuration for you will just take a little ‘time – do not expect to have him just outside the box. Regarding the contrast is, awesome! In a scene of Iron Man (Blu Ray), in which Tony Stark crashed his own company party, Jeff Bridges is wearing a tuxedo with a white scarf. I could see the ever so small off-herringbone pattern of color in the scarf next to the black jacket – and was not a neighbor. (No joke, it was kind of neat !)…. so only on the basis of that scene, I would mark the contrast and sharpness are top.
The effect 120Hz motion is great as well. If you have not already, go and see a demonstration of the store – you really need to see to understand the hype. And ‘certainly very nice, but I added some blur and vibration in my settings, as they kind of freaked my wife a bit’. Incredibly smooth, but certainly not as one might watch a movie in the theater. Many scenes end up look fake, or like you’re there to watch a show on stage. Just know that it is fully adjustable and may be turned off completely. Again, your personal preference will dictate the settings.
I am also happy to say that the Denon upconverts the video Wii nicely and appears full screen on the Samsung looks great. Guess PS3 or XBOX games with HD output as good as Blu Ray. I also had the wireless adapter and connected to my Windows Media Center to view photos and movies. Great works – no problem exists.
The only oddity I’ve seen is the fluctuation back light during dark scenes. Other reviews of this point as well. If a scene is really dark, like the credits rolling after the first film, yes, the whole screen will go blank. Return to a scene of light and the light pops back on. When it happens is evident, but not often. I only see a change in extreme contrast as described above. In my opinion this is a small price to pay when 99.9% of the experience is breathtaking.
Overall, this series provides an incredible picture that is hard to beat. I read a lot of reviews are always professional and a couple of negative things to focus on how “the moiré on the fence on stage 16 when the boy fell fighting the gun was evident.” Huh? They also say 240hz is better than 120Hz. Yes, if the name is UNIVAC and analyzing a test pattern. Real people, it can not sense some of these things! I stopped paying too much attention to them after a while ‘. Stand in front of these sets, adjust images, and you see what looks good! To me, this was – I am absolutely recommend this TV!
Floating Backlight disk! Simply say that this TV still impresses every time I look. Regarding the question fluctuating backlight … I found a post that explains how to enter the service menu and disable it. It’s called EC dimming and can be set to activate or deactivate in both Standard and Movie modes. I turned off in standard mode and it worked without problem. You need to come in and readjust the settings of photos from the time that restores them, so write them in advance.
Otherwise, it worked well and now I have to say that the image is 100% solids. Here are the instructions: With the TV off, press Mute, 1, 8, 2, Power. Scroll to “Advanced”, press 0000 – do not press enter. Scroll (arrow down) for CE dimming and press Enter. Select Movie or Standard, and press the arrow left or right to turn it off. Done, hit the power. Turn on the TV as you normally would and Auto-dimming is now off!
