What would be an estimate for amount of money necessary to get started with a Wii game system?

Myself, wife and 3 1/2 yo old daughter

It gets a little costly at first, but after a while it’s bearable and fun to play. If your not willing to spend much more then 300$ then the Wii System isn’t for your family but if money isn’t an issue then your set.

-Wii System, comes with one remote and Nunchuk and other accessories for your Wii is about 250$ and it comes with Wii Sports which is a fun game that can support four people at a time, although it really gets boring after playing for a while.

- Two Additional remotes and Nunchuk’s would cost about 120$, if that really isn’t worth it you could always cut it and play only 80$ for two Wii Remotes but some games are required to have the Nunchuk’s. Putting your grand total to 370$ or 330$.

- Games are really pricey and you don’t want to pay 50$ a game when your first buying a Wii. That’s why when you asked this question it was a good idea that I came into play. I’ve wasted insane amounts of money on games but two games that I would recommend for the whole family or for anyone are Boom Blox and Rayman Raving Rabbids. Boom Blox is a great game for the family, putting you up to many different challenges and just having fun. Boom Blox is 40$ but still cuts 10$ off your price, nothings wrong with saving. Rayman Raving Rabbids, I think your daughter would enjoy enormously, it’s a fun and silly game that puts anyone in a good mood to play. Also these games won’t get boring for your family and you will be tolerant of these games because they are boring.

- The last thing I recommend is a Wii Charge station because batteries on the Wii are used as water is. It will save you tons of money in the long run and it charges your remotes for about 5-6 hours of gameplay. These cost about $35 dollars, but in the long run are worth it.

To calculate it in simpler terms here you go. The Wii system with one remote and Nunchuk, 250$. Additional remotes and Nunchuks putting your grand total to 370$ or 330$ (if not choosing to buy the Nunchuk). Too make the grand total easier I’m going to add with both Nunchuk’s in. With two games one 40$ and one 20$ that are appropriate for the whole family would add 60$ on to it, putting your grand total to 430$. With the charge system it will put your grand total to 465$ and with tax that’s a whole lot of money to spend all at once. Overall it’s worth if if your looking for some for your family. You can always cut the cost depending on what you don’t want or want but this would work out almost ingeniously for your family.

Good luck and hopefully this would have influenced your decision to buy a Wii or not.
