Wii Optical Audio

Hooking up my surround sound so everything plays through it?

This is a Christmas present my mom got me so I can’t open it quite yet to mess around with it.

I was wondering what exactly I’d need or how to hook it up so all my devices play through it, with the best quality possible.

The receiver itself is a blu-ray player, I have an Xbox360, a DVR, and a Wii. I want these all to play through the surround sound.

The receiver has NO optical out, it does have an HDMI output, Component Video output, Composite video output, Digital coaxial in, Aux in x2.

My TV does have an optical port, L/R audio in, HDMI, component, and coaxial.

If you know the make and model number, go to the manufacturer’s website and download the user manual. Most manuals have diagrams showing how to hook up multiple devices.

Same goes for your DVR.

Surround sound receivers and DVR’s are all over the map as far as number, type, and functionality of their I/O’s, so I can’t begin to guess at what yours has.
