Learning how to fix Wii sensor bar problems is not as hard as you may think it is. For the most part, all the Wii sensor bar consists of is infrared sensors and a few wires. The most common problem with the Wii sensor bar is the cable that connects it to the Wii system. Usually a pet will chew it or something dumb happens to it and it gets cut.
Fixing a cut or chewed wire is easy.
1)Cut and strip away the insulation (the plastic/rubber coating) and expose the wires on both sides of the break.
2)Slip some heat shrink wrap on one end of the wire and keep it for later.
3)Make sure the wires are connecting correctly. Make sure that, for example, the red wire on one side goes to the red wire on the other side.
4)Solder them together. Once it is cool, which should only take a minute or so, get some electrical tape and wrap the solder point with it. Do not wrap them together with one piece of electrical tape, this will cause a short.
5)After both wires are soldered and taped separately, use the heat shrink. Pull it up to cover the tape and get a blow dryer to heat it up and shrink it.
Thats it, it is that easy.
Of course, if you feel crafty, you can do a large number of repairs and mods on the sensor bar. Make sure you don’t destroy anything though, that would be pointless. Take your time and be careful! If worse comes to worse and you totally destroy the sensor bar don’t be too mad. It is just as easy to replace as it is to fix. You can go to any major retail store and pick one up.
Really though, you don’t even need the Wii sensor bar. I hate to say it but you can turn 2 tea light candles into a Wii sensor bar.
Yes, you read that right, 2 tea light candles. Look, the sensor bar is just there to give the Wiimote “light” so it can see and communicate with the Wii system. Candles will take care of that. Just light 2 up and place them on either side of the tv. I don’t know how it works, I just know it does! Of course, that does run the risk of burning your house down, but hey, it is what it is!
