Wii Wireless Setup Wpa
HP DV1000 Laptop does not connect to my router?
I have a HP Pavilion DV1000 laptop. I have a Linksys router, that is setup for WPA TKIP secure connection. I can see the SSID of my WLAN but it can’t connect to it with the laptop. I am able to connect to other WLAN’s in the neighborhood with no issues. The pass code are correct. The router is setup to broadcast on channel 1 and so is the configuration on the laptop. I have other wireless devices that connect to the network without issues (PS3, Wii, Iphone).
If I plug the network cable into the laptop and connect, when I disconnect the network cable the WLAN is connect and stays connected. But it does not connect otherwise.
My brother has the exact same laptop and he is experiencing the same issue. Any help or advise would be appreciated.
First things first, make sure you’re wireless button is enabled (sometimes its a slide switch). About 50% of the wireless calls we get for wireless are wireless button related. If the light is on, and you’re still having the same issues, my first suggestion would be to power cycle the modem and router.
To do this, unplug the power from the modem and the router.
Leave them both unplugged for about a minute.
Then plug the modem back in (no router yet)
Wait another minute, or even 2
Plug the power back in to the router. Wait for the lights to look normal.
Then go back to the laptop, make sure the wireless is on, and try connecting. I know this sounds stupid, because other devices connect, but even so, this is a fix that works a lot. A lot.
If that doesn’t work, go into the device manager, under network adapters delete the driver for the wireless (will be intel, broadcom, or atheros). Restart the computer, and it will automatically install the driver back, and then try connecting again.
Good luck!!
