Wii Xvid Player
Video Capturing problem, trying to capture videogame footage.?
I’ve used DVD recorders in the past for this, and both players no longer work.
I’d like to find a better way to record footage, if possible with better quality than recording it to dvd. I’ve heard capture cards on computers work for this. So I hooked up the Wii’s red, yellow, and white plugs in the back of the PC under video in. It’s my folks computer, so I installed some codecs before this. I tried using VirtualDub, it gave me some weird RGB error when I started the capturing mode. I get no video coming through… even after going through all of the settings. I may be missing a much needed codec that I haven’t thought of installing, or maybe it just doesn’t work. So far I installed xvid and ffdshow, I figured those should be enough for now, and I’m sure they probably already have some other basic ones on there.
Any recommendations? Is this really the best way to record videogame footage, or should I just buy a new dvd recorder?
Most tv-capture cards for pc come with their own software that (usually) allow recording along with watching.
So first install the driver and software that came with the card, try using that software to capture the video feed.
You can then edit it in virtual dub. I believe it is also possible to use vdub alone but since i dont have any tvtuner card, i cant confirm sadly.
