Any hard core gamers knows many of the best games – or at least most unique games, come directly from Japan. Most of these games never see the light of day in the United States or Europe and gamers are left wanting and drooling for games never have the opportunity to play. At least that was the case with the Gamecube and now also with the Nintendo Wii. Then came a little disc called the Freeloader, that allowed any Gamecube to play any Japanese game with ease, no mod chip required and no need to open the console.
Why do I mention Gamecube and Wii playing import games? Simply because the Nintendo Wii is also compatible with every a game for the GameCube, including Freeloader disc. Since the Nintendo Wii GameCube bootable discs / games, you can also load the Freeloader and finally take advantage of all major import games on the market. The Nintendo Wii Freeloader is a disc, which allows any Wii owner to play import GameCube games without mod chip. As you may have guessed, the Freeloader was not really made for the Nintendo Wii, but was a product that has been out for several years (with several updates) for the Nintendo Gamecube. Since the Wii can play Gamecube games and is backwards compatible, but also charges the Wii Freeloader on any console that can play any Gamecube game region easily.
Now if this were any kind of disc, I would not write a review on it. And often, when I speak import games, people ask me what I like to play games that are all in Japanese and can not play anyway. Or I wonder what is the problem with these games in Japan. The fact of the matter is, over 60% of Japanese import games can be played without any problem. I'm a big fan or racing games and some of the BEST racing games for GameCube were only released in Japan. The same would go for first person shooters. But more than that, some games are so unique, so well designed, you should try. You immediately become a fan of import games once they do.
Regardless genre of games you want. Being able to play import games, you are actually expanding your software library, or at least the selection available for thousands additional game. Many of these games do not hear about at your local Blockbuster, or journal. If you want to start receiving the latest import games without having to wait for success in the local market – if they ever do at all, then the Freeloader is the easiest and cheapest to start.
