Wireless Wii Network Adapter

March 29, 2010 By: admin Category: Wii Console & Video Game Tips

Is it possible to use a Netgear WG111v2 USB wireless adapter as a wireless access point for my wired network?

I’m trying to get internet access for my Wii, and I’m not going to purchase a wireless router because I ordered one with a laptop that’s coming in a month. I was hoping there would be some way to use my USB adapter as an access point so that I can still access the internet from my Wii in the meantime.

Nope, the wireless USB adapter isn’t an access point.

I suppose with Linux and a PC with a regular network card in addition to the wireless adapter you could concoct something (like an ad-hoc network between the Wii and the computer, forwarding the traffic to the wired network) but that requires another computer and potentially hours of configuration fun.

Does the Wii have a regular wired port where you could plug in a CAT5 cable?
